Introducing the Disrupting Family Violence Program

10th June 2024

Working with Men towards Family Wellbeing

Centacare NQ is proud to announce the launch of our upcoming campaign, "Working with Men towards Family Wellbeing," featuring the innovative Disrupting Family Violence Program. This program is dedicated to supporting men in understanding the profound impacts of violence on their relationships with their partners and children.

At Centacare NQ, we recognise the critical role men play in fostering healthy, safe, and respectful family dynamics. The Disrupting Family Violence Program is designed as a group process, strategically focused on promoting respect, equality, and safety within relationships. Through guided sessions and facilitated discussions, participants will gain invaluable insights into the dynamics of violence, its consequences, and strategies for positive change.

What sets our program apart is its flexibility and responsiveness to individual needs. While group participation is the primary format, we understand that some circumstances require tailored approaches. In such cases, we offer one-on-one facilitation and individual Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) counselling alongside group sessions. This personalised support ensures that every participant receives the guidance and resources they need to navigate their journey towards healthier relationships.

Our campaign is not just about addressing the symptoms of family violence; it's about fostering long-term, sustainable change in behaviour and attitudes. By empowering men to recognise and challenge harmful behaviours, we aim to create safer homes, stronger families, and healthier communities.

"We believe that by engaging men in this crucial conversation, we create an opportunity to positively change many lives," says Paula Washington, Executive Director at Centacare NQ. "Through education, empathy, and empowerment, we can break the cycle of violence and build a future where every family thrives."

Centacare NQ invites all interested individuals, community organisations, and stakeholders to join us in our mission to promote family wellbeing and disrupt the cycle of violence. Together, we can make a difference.
